huaqiyuHua graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2000, she joined the Hong KongDance Company in 2001. She has performed main roles in many HKDC productions including Dream Dances, Desperately Seeking Miss Blossom, Princess Changping and Everlasting Love, as well asEagle Companion and Painted Face. Hua played the lead role in Red Poppies at the 8th China Arts Festival in Wuhan and Rock Hard at the Hong Kong New Vision Arts Festival in 2008, as well as main roles in Thunderstorm at New Vision Festival in 2012 and in the Hong Kong Sinfonietta production of La Valse Remembered at the 2012 Hong Kong Arts Festival.

As choreographer, she contributed to the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra’s 35th Anniversary Season Opening Concert Ode to Water. Most recently, she has danced main roles in Two Swallows – Ode to Wu Guanzhong, Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove, Spring Ritual.Eulogy, as Lady Meng Jiang in The Butterfly Lovers and as Tana inRed Poppies. Her performances in Thunderstorm and The Butterfly Lovers won the 2013 & 2015 Hong Kong Dance Awards “Outstanding Performance by a Female Dancer ”.
