Lindsey Renee DERRY

lindseyLindsey Renee Derry is a dancer, choreographer and teacher based in San Francisco.
She is a graduate of SUNY Purchase College, Conservatory of Dance with a BFA in Dance Performance – summa cum laude – and Certificate in Arts Management. At Purchase she performed repertory by Mark Morris, Paul Taylor, Merce Cunningham, and others. She was the recipient of the 2006 Thayer Fellowship, a prestigious award given by the New York Foundation of the Arts to outstanding State University of New York (SUNY) graduates.

After a decade of her dancing with several prominent American and Canadian dance companies including RIOULT (Pascal Rioult) in New York, José Navas/ Compagnie Flak in Montréal, and Yannis Adoniou’s KUNST-STOFF in San Francisco with whom she had numerous touring opportunities spanning 12 countries, Derry launched L i n s d a n s, the platform for her solo performance work and teaching.

In 2013, L i n s d a n s presented POR·TRAI·TURE, Derry’s first solo show consisting of five solos created by guest choreographers and herself, garnering her an esteemed Isadora Duncan Dance Award (Izzie) for her performance. Since then, with the support of American Dance Abroad, festivals, and residencies she has had the opportunity to perform POR·TRAI·TURE and her latest solo Would_She in Greece, Germany, Canada, Bulgaria, China and the US with her most notable performance taking place at the Beijing Dance Festival.

Teaching is an integral part of Derry’s passion for dance and an important component of L i n s d a n s’ activities both locally and abroad. From 2014-16 she served as an Adjunct Lecturer in Modern Dance and guest choreographer at Santa Clara University in California.
